VIRGINIA BEACH — Thousands of runners and walkers enjoy the race and after party of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon.  The August 30-31 event is more than just a race — many teams sign up to run for their favorite charities.  One of those charities is Climb for Conservation, founded by Ginna Kelly, J.D., a Virginia Beach native.  It’s a non-profit business that inspires people to climb mountains around the world to raise awareness about the  rotection of land, water, and wildlife and to donate funds for various conservation projects.

Other charities are Wounded Warriors, St. Judes, Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists, American Association for Cancer Research Foundation, American Diabetes Association, and Team USO.

Celebrating its 14th year, the Rock ‘n’ Roll attracts more than 15,000 participants to Virginia Beach on Labor Day Weekend. Open to runners and walkers from novice to professional, more than 20 live bands and hundreds of local high school cheerleaders entertain and cheer on participants along the scenic course. The event concludes with a finish line beach party and Sunday night concert headlined by Train.
